Free day in Athens to take a walk around the city and get to know the places and people better. Good opportunity to visit one of the famous museums such as the National Archaeological Museum or the Benaki Museum.
Use the metro not only for your transport but also to visit the different stations to admire pieces of ancient and modern art. Don’t miss a visit to the Plaka neighbourhood (the ancient city of Athens) with lots of souvenir shops, restaurants and taverns.
Opportunity to take optional excursion to Mycenae and Epidaurus in Argolis.
FRIDAY: ATHENS – HALF DAY VISIT
This tour is the opportunity to observe the amazing contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (shortstop).
Continue and pass by the residence of the Prime Minister (former Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colourful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, Parliament and the monument to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between the material and the spirit”, the monument that “puts the order in the mind », The Parthenon.
Free afternoon to visit Plaka (the ancient city of Athens) with lots of souvenir shops, restaurants and taverns.
SATURDAY: ATHENS – PIRAEUS
Free morning in the city. In the afternoon, transfer to the port of Piraeus to embark on the 7-night cruise through Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, Rhodes (Greece) and Turkey.
Our cruise will leave the port of Piraeus at 17:00 for 8 full days of fun and experiences. We go through the west end of Attica passing near the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. Tonight is a good opportunity to move around and get to know your boat and the services we provide.
A full day of sailing to relax onboard, participate in the different events offered during the day, read a good book in the library, take a Greek dance class and much more. The evening can start with your favourite cocktail in one of the rooms or decks and after a delicious dinner, enjoy an international show, casino, disco.
MONDAY: PORT SAID (CAIRO) (EGYPT)
Early in the morning, we arrived at the port of Port Said in Egypt.
We will disembark for our full-day tour included to the pyramids and Cairo. We cross the desert to Cairo to admire the only intact wonder of the ancient world, the pyramids of Giza. Continue through the valley to see the guardian of this mortuary complex, the mighty Sphinx. After lunch, visit the National Archaeological Museum and get acquainted with the treasures of ancient Egypt, spanning a period of more than 50 centuries, before rejoining the ship in Port Said.
We will spend the whole day in Israel and we will have the opportunity to visit the Holy Land. Participating in an optional tour from Ashdod port will take you to the holy city of Jerusalem, where you will visit the Mount of Olives, the Church of Gethsemane and in the old city, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Western Wall. The tour also includes a visit to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ.
WEDNESDAY: LIMASSOL (CYPRUS)
Another port, another country, another civilization. Most of the day will be spent in Limassol, one of the most beautiful cities in Cyprus. Limassol was built between two ancient Greek cities, Amathus and Kourion, and during Byzantine rule, it was known as Neapolis (new city). The historic centre of Limassol is located around its medieval Limassol Castle and the Old Port. Today, the city stretches along the Mediterranean coast and has spread much farther than the castle and the port, with its suburbs stretching along the coast to Amathus.
You can stroll around the city or take part in the optional tour to Curium and Omodos Wine Village. The curium was an important city-kingdom founded by the Greeks in the 14th century BC. Discover the beautifully preserved Greco-Roman theatre, with spectacular views of the sea and the House of Efstolios, with intricate mosaic floors from the 5th century AD.
Then, it is in the hills of the Omodos wine village to visit the Monastery of the Holy Cross in the town square, see a medieval wine press, and enjoy a tasting at a local winery in Limassol.
Today we will visit the magnificent island of roses, knights and butterflies. Rhodes was famous throughout the world for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The medieval old town of the city of Rhodes has been declared a World Heritage Site. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.
The optional tour will take you to visit the ancient medieval city and the famous Acropolis of Lindos and the Citadel of the Knights. Our tour begins with the Acropolis of Lindos, 55 km (40 miles) from the city of Rhodes, to see the elegant Temple of Athena, built in 300 BC. Back in the ancient city of Rhodes, you will walk through the D’Amboise Gate and along the perfectly preserved Street of the Knights to discover the medieval residence of each order of the Knights of Saint John, which still preserves the original ridges.
Kusadasi is a resort town on the Turkish Aegean coast. In ancient times, the settlers included the Aeolians in the 11th century BC and the Ionians in the 9th century, who made Kusadasi a centre of art and culture. In the early years of Christianity. Saint John the Evangelist and (according to the sacred Roman Catholic tradition) Mary (mother of Jesus) came to live in the area.
The included tour will take you to ancient Ephesus through the ages – Hellenistic / Roman.
